Eminent Spine Earns Two New Patents

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted a utility patent to Georgetown, Texas-based Eminent Spine for its pedicle screw fixation system, named the Diamondback pedicle screw; and for its Fang Plate, the company’s bone plate and plating system.

Last year, the company earned a patent for its spine cross-connector called the Boa Constrictor. Other products include the King Cobra cervical plate and the Copperhead cervical cage. Eminent names it devices after snakes because snakes are mostly made up of a spinal structure.

The company’s products include an ALIF (anterior lumbar interbody fusion) cage, buttress plate, cervical plate, PLIF (posterior) cage and MIS (minimally invasive surgical) screw.

Eminent Spine was issued a warning letter in 2010 from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but has since then been cleared of all violations and has passed two FDA inspections.
